Specs

The Meinl Slap Top Cajon is a conceptual step up to a new level. This model is designed to bring the striking surface up nearer to the player, for a more upright playing style. The sound projects forward into the audience from the sound port located on the front of the instrument, which is also convenient for microphone placement. High and low tones as well as a snare effect are built into the sound board. This cajon has all of the outstanding acoustic properties of any standard Meinl cajon. Striking the sides and corners gives more slap and snap sounds, while playing in the middle of the surface delivers deep and boomy bass punches. Soft finger rolls are also easily achievable with its ultra-sensitive playing surface. Cajons are the perfect instrument to use for softer acoustic gigs when a full drum set cannot be used.

The playing surface has three zones (deep bass, snare and mid-range bass) - play in the center for deep bass, strike near the left side for snare and the right for mid-range bass

Upright Playing Position
The unique T-shape design of the Meinl Slaptop Cajon allows you to sit up naturally with the playing surface in your lap - this is an easy and fun percussion instrument that anyone can play, regardless of skill level

Internal Snares
A single set of internal fixed snare wires are positioned against the inside of the playing surface on the left side for an articulate snare effect - these coiled steel snares are the same type you would find on a snare drum

Makah Burl Frontplate with Modern Composite Body, Black
The makah burl playing surface along with modern composite body dish out cutting slap tones, warm bass and respond to soft finger rolls or brush playing - the makah burl also adds a stunning look

Forward-Facing Sound Port
A large, central port in the cajon body develops and projects the tone toward your audience, and an additional snare port is located on the underside of the playing surface for extra snare definition
